Anime Expo® Announces Morning Musume As First Official Guests Of Honor For 2009 Convention In Los Angeles

Nation’s Largest Anime and Manga Convention Welcomes Japan’s Top Female Group from Hello! Project

Anaheim, California and Tokyo, Japan (February 12, 2009) — With excitement beyond belief, Anime Expo® proudly announces the attendance and performance of Japan’s most celebrated and top all-girl music group MORNING MUSUME (also referred to as “Momusu”) to the nation’s largest anime and manga convention held July 2-5, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The MORNING MUSUME (モーニング 娘.  Morning Daughter) is a one of a kind all-girl group whose story began in 1997 when Japanese producer TSUNKU♂ held auditions for a female rock vocalist for his band SHARAN Q held on the Japanese TV show ASAYAN.   With the five runner-ups from the contest, Tsunku decided to create an all-girl group that sold 50,000 copies of their indies CD single “Ai no Tane” and debuted as  MORNING MUSUME. They are the lead group of Hello! Project.

MORNING MUSUME’s first single “Morning Coffee” made a huge splash by hitting the #6 position in the Japanese pop charts within its first week of release.  In August of 1998, MORNING MUSUME reached the #1 spot in the Japanese pop charts with their 3rd single “HOLD ON ME”.  In 1999, the group had their first nationwide tour with 19 performances in 7 cities for 40,000 fans.

In September of 1999, MORNING MUSUME released their smash hit “Love Machine” that sold 2 million copies and held the first place spot in the Japanese pop charts and stayed 17 weeks on the Oricon Karaoke Chart.

MORNING MUSUME is famous not just for being the Japan’s top female group, but also for its unique approach with the shuffling of members.  Producer TSUNKU♂ creates freshness by graduating band members and adding new members to create different units and adds fresh new faces for fans old and new.

In 2007, MORNING MUSUME made a historic impact within the Japanese music industry as the band welcomed new members Jun Jun and Lin Lin from China and began to reach an international audience.   In 2008, MORNING MUSUME celebrated their 10th anniversary.  MORNING MUSUME is definitely the world’s most famous and successful Japanese all-girl group.

MORNING MUSUME consists of band members Ai Takahashi, Risa Niigaki, Eri Kamei, Sayumi Michishige, Reina Tanaka, Koharu Kusumi, Aika Mitsui, JunJun, and LinLin.

This is super super super GREAT NEWS for H!P fans in the US

Anime Expo is great but Anime Expo + Momusu = EPIC!

OH YEAH!!!! Momusu is really going global~ last year they did an Asia Tour and now this, Tsunku’s plans of world domination is coming to fruition!

This is also the group’s 1st time performing in continental US since they only perform for fanclubs in Hawaii

This is a good experience for the group because now they can attract more people and fans and what a better way to start it by performing in AX which is one of the biggest anime conventions in the US

I hope this boosts their global popularity even more and i hope that more people will be fans of them

First press CD’s and DVD’s will be the one with the special cover~

This collaboration is for the god-awful live action Dragonball: Devolution Evolution in w/c Ayu’s “Rule” is the theme song.

The single goes on sale in Feb. 25 and the movie disaster will be shown in Japanese theaters on March 13.

I can’t wait for the illustration of Ayu and i will not wait for the movie ~

Kazuaki Kiriya’s 2nd film~

Kiriya’s next film is Goemon which is loosely based on a real life folk hero Ishikawa Goemon who was a lot like Robin Hood in that he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. He was also noted for being boiled to death as punishment for a failed attempt to assassinate Toyotomi Hideyoshi who was a Sengoku period daimyo who unified Japan.

The feel of the movie looks like his debut film, Casshern (based on the anime, released in 2004) but in a period setting.

Trailer looks solid and i like the overall presentation of the movie~ i’m expecting great things from this…

This movie looks promising and i can’t wait to check it out when it comes out in June~

for me HaMC’s cover is better than the original, i like the way they infused the song with modernity~

although i also like the T.M.R one i feel that it’s lacking compared to this

this has more edge and rockingly good!

as far as the PV goes…

• it’s simple
• the notion of the PV is that they’re rehearsing for the PV and they’re on the stage
• Maaki is on the top of a huge star doing her stuff and the rest of the band plays along…nothing much there
• Maaki’s outfit is  HAWT HAWT HAWT!
• and there’s a special appearance of a someone at the end~

and might i say again that Maaki is phenomenally HAWT and SMEXY in the PV :D:D

2nd BEST album w00t w00t!

BoA will be releasing her second BEST album on March 4. Currently untitled, the album will come in three different formats. One version will come in the 2CD+2DVD format and will include both the BEST album and BoA’s debut English album. One of the DVD’s will include all of BoA’s PV’s released after DO THE MOTION as well as the PV to BoA’s debut English single Eat You Up and unreleased footage recorded in the US. The second version will come in the 2CD format and will include a BEST album and BoA’s debut English album. The third version will come in the CD-only format and will include only the BEST album. The 2CD+2DVD will come with a first-press bonus of a collector’s box to house all the discs. Some of the tracks on the BEST album will be re-recorded and/or rearranged including Eien, MERRY CHRI and VALENTI.

Well, it’s about time that she finally got to release her 2nd BEST album~

I think the 2cd version is the one to get and the best deal for all since you’re also getting her 1st BEST album which is “Best of Soul” [which is damn good album to listen to if you're new to BoA]~

and re-recorded and re-arranged tracks of some of her best songs, sounds good to me~

Some details are now available about Yui Aragaki’s third single, “piece,” which goes on sale February 25.

The title track is written by singer-songwriter Minako Kawae and arranged by Motoki Matsuoka. Matsuoka also handled her previous song “heavenly days,” which became a hit after it was used in the movie “Koizora.”

The B-sides on the single are “Sparkle,” with lyrics written by Aragaki, and “Anata ni,” a cover of the famous song by MONGOL800.

I loved heavenly days so i’m excited for this next single…

and Gakki doing a Monpachi cover?!?!?!?! is sweeet news! i’m psyched!!!:D
